In my series titled Little Miracles I pose and play with products meant to make some parts of my body smaller, other sections bigger, another chunk higher up, and most areas tighter. These cheap, quick fixes are based in little science, but are still purchased in the pursuit of perfection. Plump lipped, big browed, skinny faced, flat tummied, thigh gapped, thick assed, perfection.
I flaunt my fluctuating state of mind as I participate in each beauty ritual and operate the tools of perfection. The viewer is able to witness my maddening battle between a desperation to transform into what others expect of my body, and my bliss in accepting my body as it is. Using this contrast, I highlight the absurdity of a culture that expects every body to conform to a singular ideal.
