Vans Warped Tour 2017: More Than Music
For me, Warped Tour is synonymous with summer. And in the past, it was the one thing that kept me going during the torture of the school year. Now though, I'm not as dependent on Warped Tour to keep me going (I'm sure it helps that high school is over). Despite this it still holds an incredibly special place in my heart. Warped Tour isn't a music festival. It's a city, built up in the morning and destroyed at night, just to do over again the next day. It's a family of artists and a safe place for the "weird" kids who support them. It matters so much to me, and I know it matters to a lot of other people like me.
This summer, I tried my best to photograph differently than I have in the past. I wanted my photos to be less about the who and more about the what. It's really easy to get caught up in taking as many pictures as possible of these rock stars as they perform. I tried to step back, slow down, and create work as meaningful and artful as the tour itself.
